Evaluation - Question 4

4) How successful was your product? Why do you think it was successful or unsuccessful?

I think my product was succesful but it could have been done much better in some parts. It was good because we managed to recreat pretty much all of the shots too good accuracy, such as the close up shots and the slow motion bed shots, but we could have had better use of props and maybe better locations because we used a class room and that did not really give us enough room the set we needed. We had really good lighting which was one of the main focuses of the video and we had some good ideas when it came to lighting. Overall I think our product was succesful because we copied majority of the shots and the shots  were of good quality and very close to the origional mise ensconce wise, which was the aim of the task.

Evaluation - Question 3

3) How has doing this task helped you and why? What have you taken away from this experience?

This task has given me a lot of experience in editing, camera work and acting. I have learnt how to edit the music video by putting shots together, trimming them and then syncing them with the song, which is a valuable skill, I have learnt how to take multiple shots such as close ups, medium shots, zooms, tilts and long shots, and I had to act in the video, which was a new experience. I have taken the vital skills from this task, which means I will be able to apply them in future things I might have to produce, and for the second year music video I have to make. It has also given me an insight into what the second year of media is all about and how challenging it can be, but also what I can look forward to and what struggles and hurdles I may come across along the way.

Evaluation - Question 2

2) What will you do differently when you make your A2 product next year?

Next year in A2 media, the thing I will do differently is, I will spend a lot more time thinking about the shooting location and make sure I can find somewhere that will let us film. Also, I will try and use much more accessible props because it could cost quite a lot for some of the props we needed for this task. I will leave a lot of time for editing because I never realized how long it would take to do such a small amount of editing and how difficult it is to sync the video up to a song so with it being a longer part of the song it will take a lot longer to edit. I think I will do a song that I enjoy as well because after the first couple of times listening to it I started to find the song really boring and tedious. I would also make sure I knew enough people that I could use as cast because we had to re use people this time round and it doesn’t look good.

Evaluation - Question 1

1) What did you find the most challenging and why?

I thought that finding a good location to do the shoot was the hardest part because we needed a large area with really good lighting and that was difficult to find. In the end we had to use a large classroom and we used lights on our mobile phones to make the lighting around the edge. This was not ideal because we had no room for the actors to move and we didn’t have much room to take many shots. Something else that was difficult was finding the props that were used in the actual music video ad being able to get them to our location. We were unable to get a grand piano due to us not owning one and not having access to a place that did have one, so we had to settle for a keyboard on some tables, this never had the same effect as a grand piano but it was better than nothing.
